SINGAPORE - 28 December 2000 - Crispy hand-made Asian finger foods such as tail-on shrimp dumplings, crispy seafood deli, and butterfly seafood wontons were singled out for their innovative use of all natural ingredients that have no preservatives, food colorings or added monosodium glutamate (MSG).

Marketed under Food Empire Holdings' Klassno brand, these convenience Asian snacks made it to the prestigious Innovation and Trends Book 2000 published by SIAL, the global food exhibition organizer. These products were also selected for the Innovation and Trends pavilion at SIAL 2000's Paris show this year.

Mr Tan Wang Cheow, Managing Director, Food Empire Holdings, said, "We are very excited that our efforts in producing natural and healthy finer foods have paid off with this special recognition in the Innovation and Trends Book. This is no mean feat as our finger foods are just one of the few products selected from a much larger pool of world-class manufacturers showcased at this mega exhibition."

SIAL is organized once every two years to feature global food trends, and the latest innovations in the industry. Some of the criteria that SIAL looks for in products being considered for the Innovation and Trends Book include choice of ingredients, packaging, market positioning and manufacturing processes. The organizers also look for sophistication in taste, color, texture and use of natural ingredients.

"With our busy modern lifestyles, there is a need for ready-to-cook convenience meals that are nutritionally prepared. Our Klassno brand of Asian finger foods specially caters to this market niche," added Mr Tan.

Food Empire Holdings Limited, listed on the mainboard of the Singapore Exchange, is a leading food and beverage company that manufactures and markets more than 40 instant beverage products under the brands Klassno, Temasek Royal, MacCoffee, Express, FesAroma, and Caf?
