Food Empire Holdings Wins Award For Its Annual Report At The International Arc Awards 2002

Singapore, 1 August 2002 - Food Empire Holdings, a Singapore-listed food and beverage group, is pleased to announce that it has won a Bronze Award for excellence in the production of its Annual Report 2001 at the 16th Annual International ARC Awards - the world's largest annual report competition that honours exceptional annual reports.

The ARC Awards, established by US-based MerComm Inc since 1987, serves to promote awareness of the annual report as an important corporate communications tool and to highlight excellence in annual report design and writing. The winners of this year's awards were honoured at a gala ceremony in New York, USA on July 25, 2002. The winning entries will be displayed in the Museum of Art and Commerce in Hamburg, Germany this September and the list of winners will be published in the official ARC Awards Book.

A total of 1,600 entries from 20 countries were submitted for this competition. The entries were assessed by a panel of distinguished judges representing different secotrs such as financial advisory, advertising and photography and included senior executives from different industries in more than 55 corporations in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Singapore.

Food Empire was the only Singapore company to receive an award under the Food & Consumer Packaged Goods sub-category competing against multinational corporations such as Sara Lee, Campbell Soup and ConAgra Foods.

The criteria used in selecting the winners at the 16th ARC Awards included evaluation of the cover design, the President's letter to shareholders, the writing, design of contents, financial presentation and how well the spirit of the company was reflected in the report.

Food Empire Holdings has won several international awards in recognition of its efforts towards quality. Last month (July), it won nine awards for its food and beverage products at the International 41st World Selections of Quality organised by Belgium-based Monde Selections Institute of Quality.

Earlier this year, Food Empire's flagship house brand MacCoffee was voted as the top winner in the category "Top Instant Coffee Drink" in Ukraine's "Choice Of The Year" Award given to the most popular products in various categories. Food Empire has also been a consistent winner at the Singapore Star Awards that honours companies for excellence in design and packaging.
