BackDec 12, 2000

SINGAPORE - 12 December 2000 - Future Enterprises Pte Ltd, the subsidiary of mainboard-listed Food Empire Holdings, has received the ISO 9002 certification for the manufacturing and trading of instant beverages.

Through the French-authorized certification body, Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI), Future Enterprises has obtained the use of three ISO marks by the national accreditation councils of United States, United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

The ANSI-RAB mark is widely recognized in the United States, while the UKAS mark has worldwide recognition, particularly in the United Kingdom. The Raad Voor Accreditatie (RVA), certified by the Dutch Council of Accreditation, is a mark of distinction especially among the food and agricultural industries in Europe.

"The reason why we applied for the use of these specific ISO marks is to facilitate our penetration into new markets such as the United States, Western Europe and Australia," said Mr Tan Wang Cheow, Managing Director of Food Empire Holdings.

"We want the potential customers in these markets, as well as our existing customers in Eastern Europe, Indochina and Asia, to be assured of our unanswering commitment to product quality and customer satisfaction. We hope that this modest achievement will spur us on to continually improve our products so that Singapore brands can compete successfully in the global marketplace."

Food Empire has been marketing and distributing its own brand of instant beverages in Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia since 1994 under the MacCoffee brand. In 1998, the Group launched the Klassno range of beverages. Their range of more than 40 instant beverage products have since broadened to include Temasek Royal, Express, FesAroma and Caf? Veneto, and are mainly exported to emerging markets such as Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Indochina.
